Lynceus offers a dedicated visual system – the Vigilant Eye, which like the human eye can spot if anything salient happens in its field of view, fixate this salient event and follow its motion. Vigilant Eye takes a close-up video of the detected salient event as long as needed to categorize it and looks for another salient event afterwards. Vigilant Eye attends salient events in real time and fully automatically. Vigilant Eye displays the close-up view of the attended salient event and takes its video record..

Vigilant Eye© uses self-learning software, to update its knowledge about events under observation. Vigilant Eye can learn from any video and remember the learned information as a standard model. Vigilant Eye can then analyse the visual input in real time and automatically detect any unusual – Salient - deviation from the standard model.

Thus Saliency is a measure of novelty. Salient situations may occur everywhere and at any time. Detection of salient situation is a major task of video surveillance. Due to self-learning capability, Vigilant Eye© can automatically detect salient situations for different surveillance applications.
